And So It Goes
The semester has ended, and Jimmy has departed for the last time. He will not be returning next year, so this blog is dead. It has been an interesting ride.
I had not posted any new entries since April 22nd, but contrary to rumors, I did not stop because Jimmy asked me to, or because of any other outside pressure to do so. I found that all the recent entries were of the following types:
- Jimbo comes back from his weekend sabbatical
- Jim does the following:
- Sleeps late
- Surfs the Internet
- Skips class
- Doesn't shower
- James leaves for the weekend
There are only so many ways to make something like that funny, and I was having a harder and harder time finding new ways to describe how my roommate literally did nothing all day long. Many people thought I made things up for this blog, but I didn't; all of it happened, and with the exception of some minor poetic license, none of it was fabricated in my imagination.
Jimbo left behind:
- 1 Disney Princesses poster, hanging faithfully on his closet door
- 8 hangers, neglected in the closet
- 1 stack of notes from a Philosophy class last semester
- 1 bright yellow t-shirt, guaranteed to scorch your retinas
Those last 2 items were left behind, because in typical Jimmy fashion, my roommate felt it would be too time consuming to check his drawers before departing.
Despite the fact that my roommate was told about this blog more than two months ago, he never said anything about it, and it never compelled him to go to class, wash his sheets, or even take a trip to visit the shower monster. If there was a contest for the laziest person in the world, I think Jimbo probably could have won it without breaking a sweat (because I don't think he's ever broken a sweat before in his life.
If anyone who read this would like their own RoommateBlog, hosted for free on this site, or knows of anybody who has a roommate worthy of being the subject of a blog, e-mail me, and I'll get you set up.
Thank you to all who have read this blog over its four month lifespan. This is the end; my Jimmy has gone for good. Let's party!

Posted by: syzzk at May 14, 2004 09:11 PMIt's been very enjoyable. Thanks for your posts :)
Posted by: torfeida at May 15, 2004 05:52 AMAlas, Jimmy is gone but not forgotten. Those endless days of no-shower's, sleeping for what seems forever, and just plain meandering have conjured up thoughts of a book or perhaps a made straight for video movie. Brian you have entertained us more than you know and please start another one next year with your new roommate. I'm sure it won't be as entertaining as this one but we will survive. Jimmy with endless thanx and appreciation u have taken college life to a level that only the movie "Animal House" has even attempted. Good luck, and I hope this is not the end of JImmy.

*sniff*
Damn, I wish my roommate was interesting enough to merit a blog. He just doesn't do much of anything even remotely worthy of note, not even in 4 long years... For shame
